Why Learn About Blockchain?

Blockchain technology is developing at a fast pace. However, currently, only a small circle of enthusiasts realize the whole spectrum of advantages that this technology is offering in order to reshape the world as we know it. It has the potential to transform many industries: from the banking sector to farming, health-care, charity, education, and others.

The International information Corporation (IDC) predicts that the amount of money spent on the blockchain technology worldwide is going to exceed $11.7 billion in 2022.

This number makes it clear how important it is to develop a familiarity with this cutting-edge technology and understand its potential across industries ranging from government services, cybersecurity, media, banking sector, etc. Also, it is crucial to be aware of how it already transformed many existing practices in various fields.

Even a basic blockchain certification course will boost your chance to get a higher paying job. If you are a software engineer, your salary will get a 20% boost if you have a blockchain developing skills.

The business world tends to look into blockchain as a high potential emerging technology. Blockchain has become a line of business for industry giants like Microsoft, Facebook, Amazon, IBM, Oracle, JPMorgan Chase, Walmart, Samsung, Daimler, Amex, just to name a few.

It is rapidly penetrating industries from shipping to health care, from farming to travel and gambling. According to Linkedin blockchain has become the #1 most needed skill by companies in 2020.

Blockchain is one of the highest candidate-short high in-demand industries. However, the demand doesn’t simply apply to software developers. There’s a rising demand for blockchain skilled workforce across the board: shipping clerks, receptionists, security guards, stockbrokers, and marketers.

“Demand for blockchain engineers has increased by 400 percent since late 2017 on Hired, a company that helps clients recruit tech candidates.”

According to the World Economic Forum, by 2025 up to 10% of global GDP could be stored across different blockchains.

Blockchain is already implemented in many fields; from medical records and product identifiers, academic degrees, land registries, and insurance contracts. However, many of its applications haven’t been discovered yet. We think it is logical to conclude that blockchain and distributed ledger technologies (DLTs) have the potential to become the technological backbone of this century.

In recent years, we have witnessed strong growth in the use of the blockchain technology in all segments of society. From industry, through finance and social networks, all the way to energy, and healthcare. The world’s most successful companies are competing in the development of blockchain solutions. This is best evidenced by the fact that blockchain is at the top of LinkedIn’s list of most sought after skills for 2020. Also, the majority of forward-thinking countries recognize the importance of the blockchain technology.

It is estimated that in Slovenia, a country with a population of slightly over 2 million, 13,000 new jobs have been created in the blockchain industry already. The European Union is also promoting the development of the blockchain technology. Recently, through its Digital Europe 2021-2027 program, the EU funded the development of blockchain with a total of €9.2 billion. Also, the Republic of Croatia acceded to the European Blockchain Partnership Declaration in 2019, along with Italy, Greece, Danmark, and other countries.
